Sweet Tooth season 2: release date, cast and plot for Netflix fantasy drama
The second season of Sweet Tooth lands on Netflix this week.
Season 2 of Netflix's Sweet Tooth is officially on its way and we've been treated to yet another exciting trailer, after a teaser was released last month.
The new season will continue exploring the story of Gus (played by Christian Convery), the young boy who's a deer/human hybrid, and his friend Jepperd (Nonso Anozie). We're still reeling from that shock season 1 ending, so all eyes are on season 2 to see how things will continue.
Fans are obviously clamouring to know what happens next, and the new trailer gives us some hints about what's set to come.
With the new series landing on Netflix this week, here's everything you need to know about Sweet Tooth season 2.
When is Sweet Tooth season 2's release date?
Sweet Tooth season 2 will land on Netflix on Thursday 27th April – nearly two years after season 1 ended.
Previously opening up about the series being renewed, creator Jim Mickle said: "It’s been equally thrilling and heartwarming to experience how people around the world have been falling in love with our deer-boy.
“We couldn’t be more excited to continue our collaboration with Netflix and keep following Gus and his friends on their extraordinary journey.”

Sweet Tooth season 2 cast
It's likely that the main cast of the series will return for the next instalment, led by child star Christian Convery and Game of Thrones actor Nonso Anozie as Gus and Jepperd respectively.
Here's a refresher on the full Sweet Tooth cast:
- Christian Convery (Gus)
- Nonso Anozie (Tommy Jepperd)
- Adeel Akhtar (Dr Aditya Singh)
- Stefania LaVie Owen (Bear)
- Dania Ramirez (Aimee)
- Will Forte (Gus’ father)
- Neil Sandilands (General Steven Abbot)
Sweet Tooth season 2 plot
Sweet Tooth's second season would need to pick up where the first left off, as Gus and his fellow hybrids fell into the clutches of the villainous General Abbot and scientist associate Dr Singh.
An official synopsis gives us a bit of an idea about where the story could go.
It reads: "As a deadly new wave of the Sick bears down, Gus and a band of fellow hybrids are held prisoner by General Abbot (Neil Sandilands) and the Last Men.
"Looking to consolidate power by finding a cure, Abbot uses the children as fodder for the experiments of captive Dr. Aditya Singh (Adeel Akhtar), who’s racing to save his infected wife Rani (Aliza Vellani).
"To protect his friends, Gus agrees to help Dr. Singh, beginning a dark journey into his origins and his mother Birdie's (Amy Seimetz) role in the events leading up to The Great Crumble."
Executive producer Susan Downey previously told RadioTimes.com of a potential season 2: “I think if we're so lucky to get a season 2, we definitely have ideas. But that is ultimately up to Netflix.
"I think when you look at a story that you want to tell as a show, as opposed to a feature where it's closed-ended, you want to feel that you could live on and on and that there's definitely a lot of road that could be travelled.
“But you also want to focus when you're doing a season, especially a first season, that it feels fulfilling in and of itself if that's all that were to ever exist. So it's that balance of telling a full story the first season, but knowing in the back of your minds like, this is so deep and so rich and there's so much more you could do if given the opportunity.”
